Jennifer grew up in a creative household. Her mother was an artist and teacher for many years. Exploration was always encouraged and Jen has embraced that mindset in all areas of her life.

She took an introductory weaving class shortly after Stephen’s death. At the height of the pandemic, it served as an opportunity to find community, learn something new, and sort through her sadness.

Jen quickly fell in love with the artform. The structured nature of loom set up along with the ease of weaving in meditative rhythm provided solitude and focus throughout her grief journey. It continues to do so today.

As her skills progressed, she began to explore different ideas: dyeing fiber, drafting bespoke patterns, pairing unlikely color combinations, and sewing. Through this process she felt inspired to add to the artBIV collection.

Jennifer now creates work inspired by her late husband’s photography that is shared from time to time in Northeast Ohio galleries and Holiday markets.

As with Stephen’s work, all net proceeds benefit the Cleveland Print Room Stephen Bivens Fellowship.

By day, Jennifer serves as a Senior Director of Client Partnership at RKD Group, North America’s leading nonprofit fundraising and marketing solutions provider. Jen is a trusted advisor to Gospel Rescue Missions serving the poor and homeless. Her life’s work is devoted to the belief that hope is possible. In all circumstances.

Jennifer lives in the Waterloo Arts District of Cleveland and is an active member of Praxis Fiber Workshop. Follow her weaving journey on Instagram @JennieBiv.
